Ongoing documentary photographic project, this series accompanies a moment of social rupture within the community of San Isidro, in the state of Michoacán, Mexico. For generations, the handcrafted production of blown-glass Christmas ornaments has shaped both the village’s economy and its identity. Today, however, the younger generation no longer wishes to carry this heritage forward. This disengagement opens an existential void, gradually filled by external models conveyed through social media, imaginaries of success that do not always belong to them.

Within this context, new horizons begin to emerge: migration to the United States or, more prematurely still, recruitment into narcotrafficking networks. Through the lens of local craftsmanship, family life, and the aspirations of youth, the project offers a sensitive and poetic portrait of a community attempting to negotiate its future between a fragile tradition, a desired modernity, and the diffuse presence of violence.

This project is currently supported by the DRAC Île-de-France as part of the 2025 Individual Creative Grant program.
